Over four hundred and fifty people came together, listened to the moving and heart-felt speeches from the men and family members who have directly and positively been impacted by Family Re-Entry's programs offering, and then listened to an amazingly diverse musical performance by Ethyl, and their guests Thomas Dolby, David Krakauer and James Bilagody. These music performances at Bydale - the historic home of Joan Warburg - bring the community together to help raise awareness of one of the most encouraging initiatives undertaken by Family Re-Entry and that is to create positive role models and proud contributing members for our society who might otherwise not been offered that chance.

Please help your neighbors, join Family Re-Entry and help them reach their fundraising goal this year.

The Annual Salute to Veteran's event here in Greenwich boasted 5000 participants, and featured demonstrations from the US Navy Seals, and the Marines, in humvees, Cobra attack helicopters and F-18 Hornets, and speeches by Bill White, President of the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum and Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, Jim Carrier of the Veteran's Appreciation Council and decorated veterans. Noted attendees included Richard Blumenthal, Malcolm Pray and a US Navy Seal who hails from Old Greenwich.

"The Comedy of Errors" Shakespeare on the Sound Debut Performance in Greenwich Tonight and Tomorrow Night

In every great English speaking city, outdoor Shakespeare is a summer highlight. This July, Shakespeare on The Sound makes its debut in Greenwich @ Roger Sherman Park, with a rollicking production of "The Comedy of Errors". The play opened July 5th, with tremendous support from the Greenwich community. The Greenwich Chamber of Commerce, celebrating its 90th anniversary with a Family Picnic and Barbeque catered by the Hyatt Greenwich prior to the show, has sponsored Shakespeare on the Sound's inaugural Greenwich performance of "The Comedy of Errors". Despite severe thunderstorms on opening night just prior to 7:30pm start, many Greenwich residents, including the Moffly's of Moffly Publications, former 1st Selectman Tom Ragland, and Peter Crumbine, Selectman, perserved and were treated to a fantastic performance.

The Leader's Club of Greenwich Family YMCA presented former candidate for US Senate, Ned Lamont, who spoke to a full house of guests including his friend Frank Farricker, who is running for 1st Selectman Greenwich Connecticut. What motivated him to run against incumbent US Senator Joe Lieberman; the Terri Schiavo case and civil liberties violations, were among the topics covered in his presentation.

Even on May 19th, a rainy cool night, Greenwich residents packed their favorite restaurants to enjoy great food and company. Vivapop.com was there to take in all the excitement that Saturday night, and even though Barcelona and L’Escale were closed to the public for private parties, we found three incredible spots where you can enjoy Greenwich's excellent cuisine.

Our first stop was Polpo. Polpo was thick with regulars that could not be happier. Owner Ron Rosa was proud to escort us through this lovely cozy restaurant where we saw nothing but warm beautiful people like Arthur and Vivian Kern dining with old friends. Jessica Antico and Liz Dottanvio were enjoying the sounds of a smooth trio in the piano bar. Situated in a turn-of-the-century cottage, this charming restaurant has several interior rooms, a porch, and patio for dining. Where can you feel the deep pulse of an upright bass on a rainy Saturday night?…..Polpo. Open seven days a week, Sunday brunch.

Greenwich Avenue has amazing restaurants that always put you in the mood for a relaxing night out. The aromas from the kitchen of Gaia were magical. Gaia has some of the most interesting architecture and decor on the avenue. Manager Laura Gillis took our camera on a dream fantasy tour through the first floor that included a cozy cocktail lounge perfect for people watching. Isame came with friends from New Jersey for dinner after an Obama fundraiser in town. Plans to add late night fun at Gaia are in the works, so we will be VivaPopping to Gaia again. Late night Solaia is the spot for intimate wine and conversation. Always full of amazing people that want to meet others. Owners Mark Mantione and Corkey Viscardi were in the crowd enjoying the vibe and a good glass of wine. Located on the “AVE”, Solaria has it all, great food, wine, and company and their bartender, Joe Rock, can always squeeze you in at the bar.

Film Screening "Today's Man" - Friends of Autistic People/Greenwich Library

Friends of Autistic People and the Greenwich Library graciously presented "Today's Man" to Greenwich on May 20th. The film follows Nicky Gottlieb, a man diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, as he struggles to leave the safety of his family home, in order to find a job and a place in the world.

State Representative Livvy Floren, Senator Andrew MacDonald, Stephanie Paulmeno with the Access to Care Committee/Greenwich Department of Health and many other distinguished guests, joined Brita Daranyi, founder of Friends of Autistic People, at the reception with the Producer/Director Lizzie Gottlieb and the Protagonist Nicky Gottlieb which followed the film screening. You couldn't have asked for better weather or a finer Greenwich event. Over 600 people joined Antares Investment Partners at Stone Chase, one of their properties located in backcountry Greenwich. Business and community leaders enjoyed a beautiful evening under spring skies, a tour of the house, and great music, wine and food. For every person there, Antares donated to the Greenwich Family YMCA raising $25,000.
