Theatre: The Pavilion

Greenwich, CT
203.227.4177
Arts

Directed By - Chad Rabinovitz

Written By - Craig Wright

May 13 - 31 see calendar for times.

From the award winning playwright and Emmy-nominated writer/producer of television’s “Lost,” “Six Feet Under,” and “Dirty Sexy Money.” Peter and Kari were the Class of 1988’s Cutest Senior Couple. In high school, it seemed like everything in the universe had been working to make their happiness possible. But at the end of senior year, Kari became pregnant and Peter ran off. The Pavilion takes place two decades later, in the mythical town of Pine City, Minnesota, at their 20-year high school reunion. The two have not seen each other since the day Peter left…and now he’s come to get her back. The Pavilion is a play about time. It is about the human condition, about mistakes and about regret. What happens if you made a wrong decision in the past? What if you ran away when you should have stayed? Can you change time and do it all over again, but differently, if you and your old high school girlfriend want to just badly enough? A masterful blend of comedy and drama, The Pavilion is both hysterically funny and overwhelmingly touching as it deals with human relationships on a cosmic scale.

Theatre: Vigil

Greenwich, CT
203.227.4177
Arts

Directed By - Stephen DiMenna

Written By - Morris Panych

February 26 - March 15 see calendar for times.

A black comedy by one of Canada’s greatest award-winning playwrights. Childhood was anything but normal for Kemp. His list of early age traumas include: A Rumanian dwarf tutor, force-fed accordion lessons and a fear of the dark until age 18. Not wanting to revisit a moment of it, Kemp successfully avoided all family contact for 30 years. That is, until the day he was guilted into taking care of his dying aunt. Now Kemp impatiently waits for the death of his bedridden aunt, attempting to fill in the time with recollections of his peculiar childhood along with playful musings on mortality. But his expectation of her death within days soon turns to weeks, then months, and eventually begins to feel like an eternity. Morris Panych has received numerous playwriting awards including two Governor General Awards—the most prestigious literary award in Canada. To give you an idea of the playwright’s wonderfully dark humor, in a program note for the West End production, Panych dedicates the play "to all who have died and all who've not yet got around to it."

Mary's Wedding By Stephen Massicotte

Greenwich, CT
203.227.4177
Arts

Charlie, a naïve soldier, is about to join a horse regiment on the battlefield and leave behind Mary, a young English girl, who shares his hopes and dreams for a future together. Ripped apart by the war, the two cling to the memories of their time together. We are reminded of the frailty of young love and the power of dreams to give us reason to live... to go on.

June 21 – July 7, 2007

Directed by Tazewell Thompson who says "I knew when I finished reading this play – between my tears – that I was committed to bringing it to you and directing it. There is a tremendous obstacle in this story that these two characters must overcome. Charlie’s duty as a young soldier is in conflict with his hopes to share a life with Mary. Together they find comfort and compassion in each other and escape their loneliness. Unexpected twists abound."
