Manhasset, NY
866-627-7211
Acting

At the actor's garage, we teach our students acting, with a focus on commercial and television, starting with the basics: concentration, relaxation and improvisation. Through these tools, actors learn to be more self-confident, trusting, outgoing and comfortable in group situations.

In all of our classes, we teach the actors through positive reinforcement and encouragement. Our hope is that in addition to teaching young actors the basics, we will also help improve their self-esteem and their ability to believe in themselves.

At the last class, a New York City talent agent will come to observe and talk to the actors.

Our rules in class are:

No negative comments EVER!

No talking while someone else is talking.

Everybody is part of the class.

Have loads of fun!

We look forward to hearing from you. For more information please call 866-627-7211

Young Tweens ? 4 to 6 year olds
These classes are comprised of a wide variety of age-appropriate acting games, ranging from our variation of "duck, duck, goose" to more creative outlets like storytelling. We focus on early listening skills, improving verbal communication, and moving past parallel play to working together as an ensemble. Each actor gets a chance to perform individually on camera and view themselves on the "small screen." Above all, our main goal is to have a lot of fun with the actors and continue to build their self-esteem.

TWEENS ? 7 to 9 year olds/TEENS ? 10 yrs and older
These classes begin with the basics: age-appropriate relaxation, concentration, improvisation and character analysis. In these classes, we encourage all of our actors to use their imagination and suggest different improvisations they would like to try. Using what is known "in the industry" as "The Ten Basics of Acting" we explore commercial copy, monologue work, and creative storytelling. All classes are on camera and the actor's continually review their progress on screen. Most importantly, our goal is to teach our students that it is their individuality, in itself, that is their greatest gift.

It is our hope at the actor's garage that we will inspire those who walk through our door to become all that they can be.
